2026 Outstanding Foundation Volunteer: Dr. Michael Shonrock

INDIANAPOLIS – In his decade-long tenure on the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation Board, Dr. Michael Shonrock led the group to unprecedented growth and success, both in dollars raised and donor participation. His leadership, vision, personal philanthropy, and unwavering commitment to his fraternity make him an extraordinary leader among his peers.

The Foundation for Fraternal Excellence is proud to recognize Dr. Shonrock as a 2026 Outstanding Foundation Volunteer for his contributions to the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation. He will be honored at the FFE Awards of Distinction Reception and Dinner in conjunction with Seminar on Sept. 1.

“Michael’s authenticity, positivity, and servant-hearted leadership motivates others to become involved and invested in the Foundation’s work,” Steve Vedra, President of the Delta Tau Delta Foundation, said. “He is known for personally encouraging donors, volunteers, board members, and staff, often reaching out with words of appreciation and support. His ability to build meaningful relationships and inspire confidence has been instrumental in strengthening donor engagement and volunteer commitment throughout the organization.”

Dr. Shonrock joined the Delta Tau Delta Educational Foundation Board in 2016 and has served as Chairman since 2022. Under his leadership, the Foundation began the largest capital campaign in its history, the “Forging the Future Campaign.” Through his stewardship, advocacy, and personal engagement, the campaign exceeded its goals, raised nearly $33 million, and strengthened the Foundation’s ability to support leadership development, educational programming, scholarships, and member experiences.

As Foundation Chairman, Dr. Shonrock’s ability to recruit, motivate, and inspire others stand out as his greatest strengths. Throughout his tenure, he has identified and recruited talented volunteers and mentored future leaders to build a strong pipeline. His leadership fosters a culture of collaboration and philanthropy, and his relationship-building set the Foundation up for success for years to come.

In addition to his governance responsibilities, Dr. Shonrock has been a loyal donor to the Foundation since his first gift in 1986. Together with his wife, Karen, he received the Crystal Vision Award, the Foundation’s highest recognition, in honor of their $1 million gift commitment. His generosity has served as a powerful example to others, reinforcing the message that leadership begins with personal investment and inspiring fellow donors to increase their own support.

“Dr. Shonrock’s service to Delt as a volunteer and donor is a testament to the power of the fraternal experience to change lives,” Paul Schmidt, Director of Major Gifts for Delta Tau Delta, said. “He often says, ‘I give back to Delt to repay a debt I will never fully settle.’ The Fraternity changed his life, and in turn he is intent on ensuring that legacy continues.”

The Foundation for Fraternal Excellence looks forward to celebrating Dr. Shonrock’s leadership this summer.
