The Cal Poly, Phi Sigma Housing Corporation developed GivaGrant to tackle the challenges they faced in scholarship administration. About 4–5 years ago, they relied on one dedicated alumni advisor to manage all aspects of their scholarship program. Now, with over $6M in assets under management as a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation, they’ve expanded to a team of 23 advisors by simply inviting alumni to review scholarships and grants. They now operate three cycles per year across six separate programs. Alumni involvement has been transformative; connections formed by alumni reading undergraduate applications have led to a 100% volunteer donation rate, bringing in about $500K for their House Corporation in just the past two years.
Inspired by the success of the Phi Sigma Housing Corporation, we commercialized our scholarship and grants software to support other large Greek organizations and foundations. Today, six organizations are using GivaGrant, which is purpose-built to enhance engagement among volunteers and reviewers, improve retention, and drive donor contributions.
The Lambda Chi Alpha Educational Foundation was instrumental in guiding our product’s development, and Sigma Kappa Foundation recently joined us after facing usability challenges and rising costs with their previous provider. Delta Sigma Phi came on board just last week, citing similar frustrations with their former vendor.
As highlighted in the case study below, since Lambda Chi Alpha transitioned to GivaGrant, they have seen a 52% increase in reviewers and applicants, along with a 53% boost in donations over the past three years.
