How have we helped our fraternal clients lately?

We have consulted with several fraternal organizations on entity structures. For national fraternity headquarters, this may include moving investments to a separate title holding company exempt from tax under IRC Section 501(c)(2).

On the national housing side, we help clients determine the best tax structure for adding local housing corporations to the national organization through single member LLCs or title holding companies.

We work with all of our fraternity clients on managing set aside funds, both from the financial statement disclosures perspective to identifying elegible expenses. Further, we are finding that in today’s remote work environment, more national headquarters are downsizing and relocating to smaller facilities. As this is potentially a taxable event, we help clients look for solutions to defer any gain on the sale.

On the chapter side, we can help revoked chapters regain their tax-exempt status and manage individual chapter annual filings, or filing a group return if they don’t file individually. We have successfully helped dozens of chapters regain their tax-exempt status with minimal follow-up from the IRS during the process.
