The Fraternal Foundation Fundraising Bootcamp, post-con workshop includes a morning of programming with a strong emphasis on collaboration, action planning and dedicated time spent with content experts in the areas of annual giving, communications and major gifts. With detailed information about how to incorporate recent and relevant fraternal industry research into your work, as well as hands-on activities, participants will walk away with tactical (and practical!) skills to better support their foundation’s fundraising operations.
Who should attend?
This bootcamp benefits fraternal foundation staff in functional areas of annual giving, major gifts/development and middle management.
Registration & Costs
Bootcamp registration includes educational content starting at 8:30 am and breakfast on Wednesday, August 21, and individual access to digital resources following the conclusion of the program. The 2024 bootcamp will be held in person at the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown.
When registering for Seminar or Dual Meeting, Fraternal Foundation Fundraising Bootcamp option is available through the event registration form as an additional $60 add-on.

Major Gifts/Development Major Gifts: Making Your Plan, Working Your Plan & Getting Visits! Adam Morgan, Senior Director of Development & Alumni Engagement at Phi Kappa Psi Foundation and Managing Partner at MVP Advisors During this session, you will learn some effective tips on maximizing your time while building meaningful relationships with your donors and across your organization. This will include setting priorities within your caseload so that you are focusing your time on those most interested in hearing from you. How to map out a year’s worth of touch points and stewardship content so that you’re not struggling to decide what to share with a donor every month. And how to maximize your position as a “headquarters” staff member to engage with different constituent and volunteer groups that your organization might have to leverage your knowledge and national connections for their knowledge of local alumni and relationships. Middle Management The Best Team Wins Marsha Grady, Chief Development Officer, Alpha Chi Omega Foundation Are you looking for ways to engage and motivate your team to higher performance? Are you struggling to keep your remote team members engaged and productive? Are your Boomer or Gen X team members confounded by the approach and outlook of your Gen Y and Z-ers? And vice versa? Developing plans is easy. But with increasingly geographically dispersed teams from multiple generations with different needs and professional/life goals, leading a team to successfully execute those plans is more challenging than ever. During this session, we’ll tackle concepts and practices that can help overcome those challenges and lead a high-performing team. We’ll discuss: - How to effectively engage and motivate remote and hybrid teams, building strong team relationships. - How to use metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and motivate individual and team performance. - How to bridge the generation gap to better understand, appreciate and leverage the strengths of your Boomer and Gen XYZ team members. - How you, as the manager/supervisor, are the key to developing and retaining talented and high-performing employees. Nathan Hand

Nathan Hand, Chief Advancement Officer at The Oaks Academy and Faculty at The Fund Raising School at The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy
Nathan Hand is a professional fundraiser who enjoys connecting people to the causes that need them. He has served local, national and international organizations and guided philanthropists on strategic giving.
Nathan currently serves as Chief Advancement Officer at The Oaks Academy in Indianapolis, Faculty at The Fund Raising School at The Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University, and is Past State President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals – Indiana Chapter. He serves on the board of several nonprofit organizations and was selected as the first North American member of Rogare, a global fundraising think tank based at Plymouth University in the UK.
He’s a full-time fundraising and philanthropy practitioner. In his spare time he speaks and consults on a variety of topics. Nathan has been quoted in the New York Times, Nonprofit Quarterly, Chronicle of Philanthropy, CNN Money and more. He’s contributed to and edited several articles and texts including Marketing Management for Nonprofit Organizations, Oxford University Press, 3rd ed and authored a chapter in the latest, 5th edition of Achieving Excellence in Fundraising.

Marsha Grady, CFRE, Chief Development Officer, Alpha Chi Omega Foundation
Marsha assumed the role of Chief Development Officer for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation in 2017 following five years on the Foundation staff and more than 30 years as an alumna volunteer including 12 years as a member of the Fraternity and Foundation boards and four years as National President. Marsha brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate management and consulting with a specialty in performance improvement. She lives the beach life in the beautiful 30A area of Florida, with her husband, Dr. David Grady (Phi Gamma Delta). “The relationships I’ve built with other fundraising professionals, volunteers and Alliance Partners through FFE are invaluable to me as I lead our Alpha Chi Omega Foundation team. As a member of the board, I’m able to help build a strong FFE that can provide networking and resources to help build strong fraternity and sorority foundations and advance the fraternal experience.”
Heather Matthews

Heather Matthews, Kappa Delta, Director of Marketing & Communications
Heather Matthews is the Director of Marketing and Communications for Kappa Delta Sorority. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University and earned a master’s in higher education and student affairs from Indiana University. For more than 15 years, Heather has been working with fraternal organizations to build and implement impactful communication strategy, having served four years as chief communications officer for Sigma Phi Epsilon and three years as chief communications officer for the North American Interfraternity Conference. Prior to that, she worked for Zeta Tau Alpha for nearly a decade, including three years as director of education and communication.

Having worked with small volunteer-led nonprofits to some of the largest nonprofits in the world – and everything in between, Adam brings a wide range of experience to his work with nonprofits.
With over two decades of nonprofit experience under his belt, Adam has made significant contributions to veterans’ services, higher education, cancer research, human services, and environmental education and conservation. He is eager to channel his expertise into your organization.
Adam has a Master’s in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, where he was a member of the Nu Lambda Mu honors society. He has helped found several small nonprofits in Delaware and currently serves on the boards of the Spur Impact Association and The Pilot School.
Adam’s leadership and fundraising prowess have been instrumental in the success of various organizations. He has managed major gifts, annual fund, capital campaigns, special events, and membership programs for the American Cancer Society, Freedom Alliance, The Salvation Army, Phi Kappa Psi Foundation, and Delaware Nature Society.
He is the Managing Member of MVP Advisors, a consulting firm that specializes in helping nonprofits, community organizations, and philanthropic families grow and succeed.
Adam loves to see the people he coaches and works with thrive doing the things that they are passionate about. In his personal time, Adam enjoys family time with his wife and their two children, traveling together as much as they can, and spending time at the Delaware beaches!
